Why We Only Use Steel Framing During Deck Construction

Our goal is to build you a deck that looks great and functions well for years to come, and using steel framing during the deck construction process is one of the ways we’re doing this.

Why We Only Use Steel Framing During Deck Construction

Wood framing is a popular method used during the deck construction process. While wood framing can lay the foundation for a durable, beautiful deck in your backyard, we want you to know that we now exclusively use steel or aluminum frames for all composite or PVC decking with a warranty of 25+ years.

Why did we decide to make this change to our deck construction process? One of the big reasons is because wood frames only last about 12 years or so. Because of this, it doesn’t make sense to invest in decking that will outlast the frame.

Although steel framing costs 25-30% more compared to treated wood, you won’t have to deal with warping and rot. The steel framing will last 50+ years, and you won’t ever have to do maintenance on it.

While we currently use New Castle Steel when framing new decks, we have our eyes on a new aluminum framing system from TimberTech. We’ll provide you with more information and updates once Timbertech makes this available to the public.
